One whose duty is to pray without ceasing is called to pray not only with others, but one must also enter into the room of the heart to pray in the Trinity in secret. There are certain prayers and spiritual exercises prescribed by the community which are not prayed communally but are rather prayed by the individual. Besides these prayers, other personal prayers may be part of an individual member’s spiritual life as the individual feels moved by the Holy Spirit.

Lectio Divina
In personal prayer, so that we may enter more deeply into the mystery of the Trinity, we give priority to meditation and contemplation especially in the form of Lectio Divina.

Primacy is given to the Sacred Scriptures so we may learn “the surpassing knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ” (Phil. 3:8) by diligently reading and praying over them with mind and heart.  In the Scriptures the heavenly Father lovingly speaks to us, his beloved children; through the Holy-Spirit-inspired Scriptures we encounter the Divine Son, God’s Word. We spend at least one half-hour in Lectio Divina daily, opening ourselves to the transforming action of the Holy Spirit.

It is of great importance to us to both study of the Word of God and to reflection on it throughout our entire religious life. Other writings, ancient and modern, which reflect God’s Word and help us better understand the Scriptures may also serve as subjects for Lectio Divina.

Devotion to the Eucharist
We are encouraged to prize daily conversation with Christ in visits of personal devotion to the most Holy Eucharist.  As a community practice we visit the Blessed Sacrament upon departing from and returning to the canonry.

Stations of the Cross
Bearing in mind Christ’s supreme priestly act of love for our sake, we make the Way of the Cross each Friday of the year and daily during Lent, in gratitude for the unfathomable gift given us through the passion, death and resurrection of our loving High Priest.

Rosary
We honor Mary by reciting the rosary, particular on Saturdays.

Spiritual Reading
Besides reading Sacred Scripture, we also read the Fathers of the Church, documents of the Church, community documents, and other reputable spiritual writers to nourish our spiritual life and deepen our knowledge of the things of God.
